COMFORT CINEMA

Movies were a big part of growing up for me. I always felt comfort in watching movies when I needed a pick me up. My dad introduced me to classic 80’s-90’s movies but I grew a love for soul comforting movies like Rom-Coms. My mom was the music person but Julia Robert’s was one of her favorite actresses along with Sandra Bullock. In a way, she resembles them to me.

Honestly, during hard friendship or relationship break ups I would turn to these movies. I can watch a million times and never get tired of them.

HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS

Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey in one movie. I can recite almost every scene. The iconic yellow dress. This movie honestly made me want to become a writer. And to be honest, I still love writing. Love that she drove him crazy and he still loved her. The BEST soundtracks are in this movie. I have them in my Apple Music.

13 GOING ON 30

Everything about this movie makes me so happy. The best friend Mattie, the pink doll house. And Vienna song oh my god. All of it gets me in my feels. The soundtracks to this movie are completely me. Jennifer and Mark make such a cute on screen couple.

PRINCESS DIARIES

This movie with Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway is absolutely everything. The fact that it’s based in San Francisco, the firehouse they live in, her bedroom, her cat Fat-Louie. All of it! This movie and my dad made me fall in love with classic mustangs. I also love green tea matcha ice cream and corn dogs with mustard because of it. I grew an obsession with old school photo booths too. There’s something so homey about Julie Andrews and her voice. My sister and I would imitate the brain freeze moment as if we were in the movie.

PRETTY WOMAN

This is a classic. Must watch. I will watch anything with Julia Robert’s. Any day. Her beauty is so unique and refreshing to me. Her big eyes and curly hair remind me of my mom.

SWEET HOME ALABAMA

Reese Witherspoon is by far one of my favorite actresses. “So I can kiss you anytime I want.” Favorite line of all time. McDreamy is in here too. Bonus! I always look forward to this movie when it’s on TV I don’t care if it’s already halfway through. Her southern belle accent is so cute!

ITS COMPLICATED

Just because you have history doesn’t mean you belong. What I love most about this movie, is the bond they share with their kids. Her love for being in the kitchen and her house is so dreamy. I love everything about the interior. You can never go wrong with Meryl Streep.

BRIDESMAIDS

FUNNIEST movie I’ve ever seen. Melissa McCarthy is in this movie and that’s the icing on the cake for me. I love her from Gilmore Girls! Queen of making me want to pee my pants laughing.

LEGALLY BLONDE

This movie made me want to become a lawyer for years. I pursued political science because of my family background. Then I grew up and realized I couldn’t afford law school. But the pink fuzzy phone? Leaving her jockey college boyfriend of so many years for someone that adored her? YES. Reese Witherspoon? YES. The classic move when she became friends with her ex’s girl. So sweet. You can look good, be brilliant and kind.

THE UGLY TRUTH

Um Gerard Butler?! Lol. This movie has so many scenes I can recite before they even happen.

HOPE FLOATS

Wow. this might be why I love Texas even though I’ve never been there. This movie makes me so happy. When my grandma passed away I went to this movie for comfort and cried my heart out. The story is so beautiful and I remember when I was in Mexico I was able to go through my grandmas closet after she passed away. I felt like I was in this movie almost. I have some of my grandmas clothes I sometimes wear and smell for comfort. One of the scenes reminds me of this. When I was little I was like Birdie with my dad. I was able to relate to this movie since I was a little girl because of my parents divorce and living with my grandma. ALL THE FEELS. Sad? Dance it out. This movie showed me your roots will always be a huge part of you and to remain humble because you can lose everything.

HITCH

I love Eva Mendes. This movie is perfect. The soundtracks make my heart happy! The way he plans dates and alters her coffee in the morning. I knew then, I’d marry someone that treats me the way Alex Hitchens treats Sara Melas. This movie also made me want to go to New York so bad! One day. Kevin James is one of my favorite actors too.

WHAT WOMEN WANT

This movie made me love jazz. Not too many people know about this movie but you have to watch it! I love it. Gives me 90s fashion vibes and I fell in love with Darcy’s home. The bathtub, chandeliers, crown molding, wooden floors. Idk why I was so obsessed with home interior growing up. I still am. This setting made me want to work in a busy street in New York. Mel Gibson is in it. Go watch it!

Hope these make someone’s day whether you are feeling down or not. They are definitely feel good movies and mean so much to me. I’ve edited in the soundtracks that instantly warm my mood.
